RULES AND CODE OF DISCIPLINE

The rules used for ice dome summer league and play off are standard IIHF rules with a few differences:

  1. Each team must submit a team name a captain/team manager and provide the Ice Dome with the registration fee before the Tuesday 10th June 08. (€75 per team)
  2. No checking is allowed. All intended body checks (open ice, around the boards) will be called as penalties.
  3. The team who is awarded a power play can decide to take a penalty shot instead of the 2min man advantage. If a penalty shoot is chosen then the penalized player serves no time for the offense.
  4. Icing calls are at the discretion of the referees. This will allow for a better game flow.
  5. Each team must have a minimum of 5 dressed skaters +1 goalie in order to play in any league or playoff game.

a) Failure to comply with this will result in a forfeit (3 points will be awarded to the other team). The team at fault will also be responsible for the entire game fee of €200. The team will be suspended of further play until these monies are fully paid up.
b)Should a goalie become injured in a game and the team only have 1 goalie, the team can then decide to either continue the game with a skater in net, or ask the referee for the mercy rule. The mercy rule will award the other team immediate victory (5-0) and the game finishes there and then.

  1. All team’s players must be wearing the same/similar coloured game jerseys for league and playoff games. The Ice Dome will provide jerseys to the teams on all game days.
  2. Home team should play in dark and away team should play in whites.
  3. Disciplinary actions are at the discretion of the leagues head referee and can only be handed out by the same. His/hers decision is final and there are no appeals allowed. Disciplinary suspensions will he handed out after the game the incident occurred in.
  4. Before the league commences all teams must sign off an acceptance letter from the League Manager, confirming that they have read and understood the rules and that they will adhere to follow them throughout the season and playoffs.
  5. A maximum of 4 Division A players (including goalies) can play on each team and be on the ice at any given time.
  6. Equipment rules are the same as IIHF’s. It is mandatory for players under the age of 20 to wear full face protection. Failure to comply will result in the player being restricted to participate in the game.
  7. You will not be allowed to play in the Summer League without insurance. You may either take the insurance cover organized by the ice dome (see details on website) or organize your own coverage. Players who have their own insurance cover have to provide evidence of such before they are cleared to play.
  8. All teams, players and coaches (if any) will adhere to at all times conduct themselves and their behaviour according to the rules and disciplinary codes of the Summer League. Remember, the objective if the summer league is to have fun, fun, fun.
